5月5日は英国では「こどもの日」ではありませんが、 May Day(メーデー）バンクホリディということで休日です。最高気温摂氏23度という予報に皆が喜び勇んでガーデンチェアを出してきて庭で昼寝や読書を楽しみます。栗栖は時折思い出したように読み続けている「パピヨン」のオリジナル仏語版を選びました。ペーパーバックなのに通勤にはかさばりすぎ、重過ぎるので、普段は積読（つんどく）本状態ですが、このように自宅でくつろぐ時にちょこっと読むのを繰り返し、読み終えるまでには数年かかる模様です。 にゃはは。Summer has arrived in London.
Bluebells are in full bloom in our garden.
Chris is reading Papillon in original French (taking him years to finish as the book is too heavy to carry around commuting and his on/off reading pattern is capricious, picking up different books in English with occasional German or French titles).
